Lockdown Policy and Procedure

As part of our emergency response plan we have created a lockdown policy and procedure to safeguard our staff and students against an external threat such as:

  • An intruder on or near the Academy grounds
  • A dangerous animal on or near the Academy grounds
  • An emergency situation outside the Academy which may mean it is not safe for our students to leave such as severe weather, a public disturbance, large scale fire or chemical spill

‘Lockdown’ is the term we use to describe the act of locking the gates, building, classrooms and offices to ensure that any external threat can be managed in the knowledge that our students and staff are secured and kept safe to the best of our ability.

Whilst it is extremely unlikely we will ever have to implement a lockdown in order to manage an outside threat, it is vitally important that we have a robust plan in place for managing such events. All Staff, Students and Parents/Carers must be fully aware of what those plans are and more importantly, how to implement them. We are informing our students about our lockdown procedure during form time over the course of the week and we will be running a practice scenario before the end of the term.

Please click here to view a copy of the policy and procedures, we also have a ‘student procedure’ which outlines what students need to do in the event of a lockdown, this can be viewed by clicking here.

If you have any questions or concerns, or you would like more information or clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact Gary Taylor the Academies Site Manager either using the main academy contact number or via email
