The Diocese of Lichfield

Pupils of all faiths and none are welcome and the Diocese encourages understanding, diversity and tolerance for all

We have a long history of involvement in schools, with a track record of high standards and a commitment to building an ethos based on Christian values, in order to emphasise the unique value of each individual. We are committed to the education and care of young people and are responsible for 205 schools, attended by over 40,000 children and young people. These schools serve the communities around them and can be thought of as community schools with a Christian character. Although the schools have been built on a Christian ethos, pupils of all faiths and none are welcome and the Diocese encourages understanding, diversity and tolerance for all.

The Diocese covers most of Staffordshire, the northern part of Shropshire and a substantial part of the West Midlands. We serve a culturally diverse population of over two-million people - Stoke-on- Trent, Walsall and Telford boast a high number of people from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds, as do many of our schools, for example St Peter's Collegiate and The King's School in Wolverhampton and St Edward's Junior High School in Leek. As part of our family of schools, the Academy benefits from belonging to a network of established schools which have strong links with each other and with their neighbourhoods. Together, we take a leading role in opening up opportunities and strengthening the community.

The Diocese provides a range of advice and support to its schools, including professional support for headteachers and teachers, governors' training, specialist support for building development and legal matters, as well as advice for clergy, governors and parishes in support of their schools.

Woodard Schools

Our schools have an outstanding reputation for providing academic excellence coupled with unrivalled pastoral car

'Faith, Unity and Vision' are the three words that capture the very essence of a Woodard education. Established by Nathaniel Woodard in 1848, all our schools have an outstanding reputation for providing academic excellence coupled with unrivalled pastoral care. Each school caters for the individual where every student is valued and encouraged to give their very best. Although the schools have been built on a Christian ethos, all faiths are welcome and Woodard Schools openly promote acceptance and diversity for all.

The Woodard family of schools provides many inter-school opportunities, the sharing of best practice and a strength and expertise within education. Their pioneering heritage places much emphasis on leadership and management. From attractive, welcoming environments to modern facilities, Woodard Schools offer a rich variety of extra-curricular activities, professional teaching and effective pastoral care.

There are 46 Woodard Schools - 22 of them are owned by the organisation while the others - affiliated and associated schools have joined the Woodard family in order to share best practice, latest thinking and experience. There are also four Woodard academies, including St Peter’s. Such a diverse range of schools - maintained, independent, academies, prep, senior, day, boarding, co-ed, single sex means that Woodard Schools has unrivalled knowledge of education currently on offer across the UK and is seen as one of the UKs leading suppliers of education.

Despite this diversity, all Woodard Schools share the founder's vision of a Christian education coupled with a belief in nurturing and enriching each individual. A vision which challenges those that believe education is simply a matter of teaching and learning certain skills. With a supportive and enriching environment, our schools empower their pupils and provide a confidence enabling them to lead a rich and fulfilled life.

We have a range of schools in Staffordshire, including Abbots Bromley School for Girls and Roch House Preparatory School, Denstone College, Smallwood Manor Preparatory School and, of course, St Peter's CE (Aided) High School and International Language College in Stoke-on-Trent.
