KMF Young Engineer of the Year Final

Young Engineer of the Year is about providing the next generation with the skills needed by industry, it addresses the STEM skills gap and opens up career paths for students within our local area. There will be specific milestones throughout the process that nurture and develop these skills.

Aspiration, Ambition and Fun are the key elements of our competition.

On Friday 16th of June 10 Students from year 10 represented the school at the KMF Young Engineering of the Year competition at the Sir Stanley Matthews sports centre.

Testing their Lego robot against 26 other schools in a series of missions.

After an inspiring talk from Jason Bradbury of Channel 5’s The Gadget Show where he outlined the purpose of the day and his expectation of the teams the activities begun.

Throughout the morning pupils had to present to a team of judges and had time to refine and test their robots.

The team did well improving their score in each round and narrowly missed reaching the Semi-finals with and impressive score of over 200 points for their timed 2 and half minute round. 

However the pupil’s most favorite part of the day was when Titan the robot turned up to complete a live performance. Before the final results were announced and prizes given
