Year 11 Sentinel Shield Campaign

The Year 11 boys football team started their 2018/2019 Sentinel Shield campaign last night, away to Endon High School and sealed their place into a second round tie with Madeley High School with a hard fought 3.5 win.

Conditions were very tricky with heavy rain making the pitch a hard surface to play on but it wasn't long before the away side went 1 up. A long ball up field and a header up in the air saw the ball into path of Cameron Causley at the edge of the box who calmly ...stroked a side footed volley over the top of the Endon keeper and into the net.

The home team then piled on the pressure from the kick off and it wasn't long before a long range effort sneaked passed the St Peter's keeper (Kyrece Gordon) to make it 1.1.

The game then turned scrappy with the pitch playing it's part until a well worked corner saw Eren Alici tap it past the Endon keeper from close range to make it 2.1 to St Peter's.

The second half saw the home side push for the equaliser with long range effort after long range effort being fired at Kyrece but to no avail and it wasn't long before a great attacking move from St Peter's ended with Luca Gardipunchihewage slotting the ball into the bottom bin to make it 3.1.

Endon stuck to their game plan of firing speculative long range efforts at the St Peter's keeper and it wasn't long before they made it 3.2.

St Peter's never gave up however and it wasn't long before some great work by Owen Sproston on the right saw him sprint with the ball from his own half and then give a little 'one, two' on the edge of the box and then sent the ball into the net to make it 4.2.

Again, from the kick off, Endon showed great tenacity by piling on the pressure until again, they fired another ball into the net to make it 4.3 but it wasn't long before the away side restored their 2 goal cushion with some great work by Oliver Sukiennicki who weaved his way around the defence and send the ball past the helpless Endon keeper.

The lads showed great resilience throughout the game in really tough conditions with excellent performances all but the stand out player on the pitch was Captain, Sonny Bates who was all over the pitch battling hard. Well done to all.
