Remembrance 2016

2016 marks the centenary of the Battle of the Somme; one of the bloodiest battles in history. As a part of our act of remembrance this year our students created a field of 270 poppies outside the Academy building. Each poppy represented a 100 soldiers from Stoke on Trent and Newcastle under Lyme who died during World War One. We also held a remembrance service during which members from the Academy who are a part of the military and police cadets marched in tribute to those lost. A wreath was laid in their honour followed by a two minutes silence. Students also laid a wreath on behalf of the Academy at the Newcastle memorial on Remembrance Sunday.
