Chapters

Within a culture of high expectations, St Peter’s Academy nurtures and develops the individual gifts, talents and interests of each student

The Leadership structure and pastoral arrangements within the Academy are based on the creation of five small schools known as ‘Chapters’.  The chapters are named after the four disciples, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John from the New Testament and the Year 7 chapter is named St Paul.

Each chapter is overseen by a senior leader called a Head of Chapter, and the day-to-day life of the chapter is managed by a Deputy and an Assistant Head of Chapter, supported by a team of tutors.

The creation of distinctive Chapters as ‘schools within a school’ reflects the Academy’s strong commitment for each student to have the highest quality pastoral care and to be personally known, valued and supported to achieve maximum achievement. A significant proportion of each student’s curriculum is delivered through her or his own Chapter.

Year 7 Chapter

Year 7 students are initially developed, educated and nurtured in their own designated Chapter called St Pauls. This helps them make a successful transition to secondary education. The curriculum is project and enquiry based, delivered by a selected team of specialist teachers, who get to know and support each student. The majority of their learning is delivered in the Chapter area but with daily opportunities for mixing with the whole school, and movement to specialist facilities where appropriate.
