Year 6 Transition to St Peter's 2021

The Government are asking schools to test all students on their return to school in September 2021. As your child is new to the school we do not have a permission slip for them to test in school.

The student will perform the test themselves under the guidance of trained staff and we aim to do this on their first day in September. If you agree for your child to participate in the testing, please complete the slip asap

Who is who

Miss E Dibble Head of Year 7

Hello, my name is Miss Dibble and I will be the Head of Year 7 from September 2021. I have worked at St Peter's for many years and I am excited to welcome all of our new year 7 students. Making the transition from primary to high school is an important step that can often seem quite daunting for both our students and parents. Here at St Peter's, we want you to feel comfortable, confident and ready for the new, exciting challenges that Year 7 may bring. I look forward to welcoming you into our community and supporting progress. I aim to ensure all year 7 students make the best possible start to their new journey in secondary school.

Mrs K O'Connor Transition Co-ordinator

Hello! My name is Mrs O'Connor and I am the Transition Co-ordinator here at St Peter's CofE Academy. Along with Miss Dibble, Head of Year 7, Mrs Davies, Family Liaison and student development Officer and your Form Tutor I am responsible for ensuring that you have the smoothest transition possible from Primary to High School. I will be working very closely with your current Teacher(s) to find out all about you and how we can best help you to settle in.

I am very much looking forward to meeting you at your Primary School in the coming weeks.

Mrs L Davies Year 7 Family Liaison and Student Development Officer

Hello, my name is Mrs Davies Family Liaison and student development Officer for Year 7. My role is to support you while you are in school from pastoral support, monitoring your behaviour and achievements as well as help you to sort any problems that are causing you upset. In my spare time I like to spent time with my 3 children, family and friends

Transitioning from Primary to Secondary school is a time of excitement and anxiety. New surroundings, new friends, new challenges, and new choices are all on offer.

Try to remember you are not alone and we at St Peter’s will support you to make sure the transition runs smoothly.

We are currently contacting your primary schools so that we can get to know you and I look forward to meeting you all.

Mr M Astley Principal

Everyone at St Peter’s, the staff, the students and even Rocky the dog cannot wait to see you all in your uniform, looking all grown up and ready for the next chapter of your school life.

We have 7 core values at St Peter’s, Service, Thankfulness, Peace, Empathy, Trust, Endurance and Reverence.  These will give you the best possible start to your time at St Peter’s and help you go on to be whatever you want to be in the future.
