Message from Mr Proffitt - Head of Year 7 and 8

Posted on: 6th Oct 2019

Last week, the Year 7’s had a very special assembly with Bruce and Peggy from Gideon’s. They delivered a special Christian message and gave every student the opportunity to receive a little red book (The New Testament). I was immensely proud of all students who showed great reverence and peace throughout the assembly and were very responsive to questions.

A note for the future for all Year 7 parents and carers:

The whole of the year group will be taking part in CAT tests during the final week of this half term.

The tests measure the four main types of ability known to make a difference to students learning and achievement. CAT’s provide an independent perspective on potential pupil achievement, with reliable information for each student that will help identify where to provide extra support or set more challenging targets.

There is no revision required for these tests and students have been informed that they are not to be concerned about them.

In other news:

Part of my role as Head of Year includes constant monitoring of student progress in all classes and I strive to ensure that every student is in the right place and are able to work at the level suitable to them. With this, I have made some minor changes to Year 8 classes as required. Again, I will ensure that these changes are closely monitored in the future and every student gets the opportunity to succeed.

Finally, a huge well done to 7 Peace (Mr C) and 8 Peace (Mrs Evans) who were the top forms last week with achievement points.

If any parent/carer from Year 7 & 8 would like any help or information, please don’t hesitate to contact the Academy or email
